Omega Delta Phi is a multicultural service/social fraternity that aims at graduating its members while giving back to the community. The Fraternity has established itself on over 50 campuses and continues to grow every year. Although founded mainly by Latinos, the Fraternity has traditionally always been open to men of different backgrounds, as demonstrated through its “One culture, any race” philosophy.
Since its beginning in 1987, Omega Delta Phi has been an organization perpetually dedicated to the idea of constant growth and improvement. As such, we face the new challenges of tomorrow with a growing sense of optimism and newfound awareness that “good” will not be good enough. We must work to form an organization which not only challenges the traditional perception of fraternities, but also one with deals with the issues of culture and race for a completely new perspective. Thinking outside the box in no longer an acceptable plateau; the box must now be removed completely.
Mission Statement:
The purpose of this Brotherhood, a Service/Social fraternity dedicated to the needs and concerns of the community, is and shall be to promote and maintain the traditional values of Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and Leadership. This Brotherhood was founded in order to provide, to ANY man, a diverse fraternal experience which coincides with a higher education.
What Makes Us Different
“Crescit Eundo – It grows as it goes”
It Grows As It Goes is a paradigm that is reflective of our ever evolving world. Omega Delta Phi does not rely on its past to identify with the present and future. We realize that our future is controlled by the actions we take today. Elevating our standards and seeking constant improvement are goals that every brother of Omega Delta Phi is instilled with to the start.
“One Culture, Any Race.”
One Culture, Any Race; this paradigm accurately describes Omega Delta Phi’s philosophy of inclusion. While proud to be a fraternity founded primarily by Latinos at Texas Tech University, Omega Delta Phi has always found itself in the position of appealing to people of many races and backgrounds. The question that begs to be asked is, “Why is this true?” It is true because we find that our ideals are universal. While other organizations focus on what they have been, Omega Delta Phi focuses on what it is becoming. Race is a limiting concept that forces people of a nationality and/or color into preconceived roles and expectations. However, any man will tell you that people of the same nationality can be as different as night and day in their beliefs and ideals. A culture, however, is defined by a set of shared ideals, traditions, and values.
While other organizations focus on what they have been, Omega Delta Phi focuses on what we are becoming. The men of Omega Delta Phi are founded on the concept that in order to truly grow as an individual, one must experience views which can challenge preconceived perceptions to foster growth and enlightenment. “One Culture, Any Race.” This is a completely new way of looking at ourselves and the world we live in. “One Culture, Any Race.” A challenge to the closed minded to look beyond what they believe to be true and realize the truth is largely dependent on one’s perspective. “One Culture, Any Race.” A philosophy that suggests the coexistence of various races can be a win-win situation if we are willing to learn from one another. “One Culture, Any Race” is an ideal for a new millennium and a new fraternity.
